The
Scene
This airy space abandons the cozy wine bar formula for
a simple, functional style. The light wood tables, clean-lined
banquettes and metal-mesh tower of wine all recall Swedish
design--ideal for studying the "Big List's"
200 bottles. Groups interested in learning come to survey
the region's grapes, while post-shopping-spree couples
get comfortable in the upstairs loft which overlooks browsers
in the parent store. Helpful servers make selection unintimidating,
recommending bottles based on moods or palettes.
The
Draw
Chalkboard specials and a handy menu--with arrows pointing
glasses to their perfect appetizer pairing--prepare patrons
for their classroom-like lesson in local wines. To get
a taste worthy of the selection--spanning meads to iced
wines, from the Hudson River to the Finger Lakes--try
one of the dozen flights contrasting same-grape varietals.
The Sauvignon Blanc trio compares Long Island vineyards,
while the robust red blend triplet pits table wine Pindar
Pythagoras beside powerful Macari Bergen Road.
