No wine better represents the first taste of the vintage than Nouveau - literally "New Wine". Harvested in the fall, and bottled before Thanksgiving, these wines epitomize freshness and flavor. The French, in Beaujolais, have long had a lock on the market for Nouveau - and we can't understand why! Nouveau should be drunk as close to the time and place of production as possible, not shipped halfway around the world in its delicate condition! The flavors of a Nouveau meld extra well with ROAST TURKEY and stuffing - the crisp acidity of the wine cutting through the richness and fattiness of the food.
This delicious Nouveau is made from 100% Pinot Noir and as such has an extra affinity to turkey.
Made from Baco Noir, the slight effervescence of this wine makes it a vibrant food wine. Gulp it, don't question it.
Utilizing the classic grape of Beaujolais Nouveau,
this is a light, dry and pleasantly fruity wine that can be served
chilled.
One of the oldest of the Rhone white varietals, Viognier has risen in popularity at an amazing clip - probably because of its potential for rich, full bodied whites that retain a crisp acid structure and hints of other varieties; a little spicy like gewurztraminer, the floral qualities of riesling and round melon fruits like chardonnay. The great Oz Clarke calls it "swooning wine." New York is having its share of success with the variety as exemplified by these three.
This sensuous wine offers a fragrant floral nose (hints of lilies), and clean peach, pear and melon flavors. It is fermented in French oak, and then aged in neutral oak barrels.
Intense aromas of sun ripened apricot and juicy yellow peaches with great volume and a long finish.
This wine is dry, with great tropical fruit aromas and a bit more body than most Rieslings. A real bargin compared to Rhone and California versions.
What fruit more epitomizes that most uniquely
American holiday of Thanksgiving than Cranberries? Tart and sweet
at the same time, they make a refreshingly different style of fruit
wine that begs to be enjoyed with turkey, family and friends. Who
says wine has to be made from grapes?
A lower alcohol, cranberry-flavored wine, made from a special blend of regional grapes. Great with turkey and spicy dishes.
A unique cranberry nose. This wine starts sweet, the acidity and sweetness quickly balance out and the wine finishes with a distinctive tartness that is a signature of a cranberry.
From the Finger Lakes comes this totally festive
wine - the bubbles give it added panache! A deep red color with
a fragrant cranberry aroma. An added hint of orange zest gives it
a tart flavor.
